Lisa Pattenden owns and runs Social Helping Hand, a consultancy business focusing on CEO’s and Business Owners developing their business to achieve a higher ROI for their planned social media strategy. Many clients have attested to her ability to connect the business owner with their message and develop a higher understanding of where they can focus to have value added to their business in social media without the chaos of losing time to it. Lisa is able to speak to those that are focused on the numbers, taking time to evaluate things and that are systems oriented, as well as, creatives who have trouble pinpointing their message. She gives a soft approach to the dynamic energy that can overwhelm business owners.

She brings with her a background of 23 years working in the Aviation Manufacturing business having worked with teams in management to get projects back in flow as well as small businesses that were working for these large aviation firms that needed a step up to become approved suppliers to fall in line with the quality requirement to be a Gold Star rated supplier.


 

Tell us a bit about you and your company.

I love to help people learn the perfect formula for to successfully engage on social media. Whether it be through learning about tools that help them or getting a firm idea of their message. I help those who are afraid of social media become stars in their own boutique way, to authentically represent themselves and their business.

 

What does a typical working day look like for you?

I wake up and do my gratitude exercise, and always have a full glass of water to start the day. Then I move into client engagement sheets, to analyse what the strategy will be for my upcoming clients of the day. Meetings usually take place from 1000-1400 in the day and after that it’s mentoring and/or speaking at places that support my selected charities.

I also take time on assorted days to do Periscope live streams to gain more followers and to get my message out there.

 

What strategies have you utilised to grow your business over time?

I have used a strategy called the Collaboration Economy. This is where haring and connecting with other businesses evolves into us doing business together and growing our businesses through connection. Where connections become clients and clients become business partners. All of it working towards growing your business and your reach.

 

Were there ever any unforeseen challenges that you had to face?

I would be lying if I said no. Yes, I went through major brain surgery in February and it put my business to a big halt. I actually found that I was able to reform my business in my recovery because I was forced to stay still for 2 months. This became a winning situation rather than an obstacle. I was able to connect with a new group of professionals and really expand my business exponentially. I turned those lemons into lemonade!

 

If you could go back in time, what is one piece of advice you would give yourself before you started your own business?

Start with the right tools. Don’t just jump into the deep end without knowing how to create a business plan, have the right systems in place and have a mentor. All things that the This Foreigner Can Program gives.
